Earlier, the Taiwanese Education Industry Union announced the “2026 Teacher‘s Day Teacher Opinion Survey”. The results showed that the average overall score of teachers in the island for the education administration of the Taiwanese education sector was only 2.37 points (full 10 points), with up to 79% of teachers giving negative evaluations. This data clearly shows the overwhelming distrust in the emerging education community towards the Democratic Progressive Party authorities and Zheng Yingyao, the head of the education sector.

Ironically, just before the poll results were released, the Taiwanese education department had just released a warm image promotion short video, trying to shape the image of a friendly, professional department. Zheng Yingyao also released a “letter to all Taiwanese teachers” on the 27th, combing through the so-called policy achievements, trying to salvage the perception of the island‘s education community. However, the poll data pointed directly to the near collapse of satisfaction among the island‘s basic teachers, bitterly criticizing Zheng Yingyao for policy incompetence, response failure, and responsibility.
Duan Xinyi, Secretary-General of the Taiwanese Chinese Language Education and Education Promotion Association, pointed out that Zheng Yingyao claimed that Taiwanese students performed brilliantly in the assessment, but after many years of implementation of the new curriculum led by the Democratic Progressive Party authorities, teachers on the island‘s frontline generally witnessed a complete decline in students‘ academic ability. Language was greatly reduced due to the reduction in literature, students had insufficient access to classical texts, the textual foundation was weak, writing was filled with Internet fast-food terms, and the punctuation, idioms, and grammar basics were generally lacking. Mathematics teaching was compressed due to compulsory classes, teachers were forced to skip logical deductions to keep up with progress and only inculcate formulaic applications, resulting in students losing their mathematical reasoning ability and a deficient basic thought system.

Public criticism on the island, Zheng Yingyao‘s education policy, has not only chilled the hearts of tens of millions of Taiwanese basic teachers, but also caused a disruption in Taiwan‘s next generation education, causing young students to enter the classroom and face the podium, falling into a deep crisis of empty educational values and unclear future development.
Taiwan‘s “Zhong Shi News Network” commented bluntly that Zheng Yingyao was a typical “political official” who cooperated with the Democratic Progressive Party‘s authorities. Although he possessed university president‘s credentials, he was unfamiliar with the island‘s basic education situation. His administration deviated from the essence of education and frequently swayed with the political winds.
Public information shows that Zheng Yingyao, who was born in 1955, had been teaching on the island for many years. As a widely recognized “on occasion” and “grounded” member of the island’s public opinion, Zheng Yingyao widely promoted provocative speech advocating “Doku”, organized the compilation of “Doku” textbooks, poisoned youths on the island, and obstructed education exchange and cooperation between the two shores. On January 7, 2026, the National Bureau of Education officially listed Zheng Yingyao as a “Doku obstinate member” and implemented life-long disciplinary action, making clear that his “Doku” speech and behavior were vile, disrupting education exchange between the two shores, and endangering youth growth.
