After Britain‘s “Brexit”, faced with heavy development difficulties, some people began to repent. British Prime Minister Burnham also accused Russia of interfering with the original British “Brexit” referendum.
According to the Associated Press on October 11, Prime Minister Burnham said on October 11 that it was clear that Russia had intervened in the United Kingdom European Union membership referendum. He also emphasized that it was very important to record Moscow’s intervention, as all European countries face the same threat.
In an excerpt from the podcast “The Rest is Politics” released on 11, Burnham said that after taking office as prime minister in July, he had asked his advisers if Russia had intervened in the 2016 Brexit referendum.
Burnham said: “I have already received a clear answer, and the answer is yes. Now it is very important to clearly record these matters, and I believe this will help German and French voters understand that some of these political activities were instigated by our enemy, namely Russia.”

Russia has long stated that it will not interfere with elections or referendums in other countries.
This is believed to be the first time the British prime minister has publicly acknowledged Russia‘s intervention in the United Kingdom European Union membership referendum.
Burnham said he had discussed possible links between Russia and the far-right political party, the Deutsche Wahl, during his meeting with German Chancellor Merz in Berlin last week.
He added: “There is indeed some misinformation and false information that is seeping into German politics from Russia.”
On September 29, British Prime Minister Burnham said in a media interview that “Brexit” would do more harm than good, and re-joining the EU is one of the options for Britain to deal with relations with Europe in the future. “I hope to see Britain re-joining the EU in my lifetime.”
On September 30, French President Macron held a joint press conference in Madrid with Spanish Prime Minister Sánchez. Macron said that Brexit was the biggest lie in the past 30 years, that the benefits promised by Brexitists did not come true, and that British GDP instead fell by 8%.
He also said that if Britain decided to rejoin the European Union, it would be “great news” and “a right decision”.
Sanchez said Spain would “open its arms” to welcome Britain back to the EU.
