Cai Tianfeng, a 28-year-old Hong Kong celebrity, is currently under ongoing interrogation by the Hong Kong High Court in the case of her ex-husband‘s dismemberment of her body. Cai Tianfeng‘s ex-husband, Kuang Hongzhi, her ex-husband‘s father, Kuang Qiu, and her ex-husband’s brother, Kuang Hongjie, are charged with murder and preventing legal burial of her body. Cai Tianfeng‘s husband, Tan Fangjun, has come to court to testify.
The defense mentioned on October 14 that after the dispute between Cai Tianfeng and Kuang Qiu, she once said to Tan Fangjun: “Husband, we really need to leave this family as soon as possible. They are becoming more and more terrifying and don‘t know how to be grateful,” where “terrifying” does not refer to Kuang Hongjie.
Tan Fangjun responded that “terror” included Kuang Hongjie, and pointed out that Kuang Hongjie “has always been surnamed Kuang, they are family,” describing Kuang Hongjie as “standing on the side of family in anything.” Tan Fangjun knew that Kuang Hongjie became Cai Tianfeng‘s driver in 2022.
Tan Fangjun said in court on the 14th that after discovering his wife‘s disappearance, he had used the mobile phone‘s location sharing function to track her, discovering that her mobile phone‘s final location was in Tai Po. Tan Fangjun said frankly in court that when he inquired about Cai Tianfeng‘s whereabouts from the Kwong family, the reaction he received made him suspicious. The deepest impression was that Cai Tianfeng‘s ex-husband‘s mother, Li Ruixiang, questioned him “why did you call the police so early”, thinking that Li was trying to divert attention to escape.

Cai Tianfeng, a 28-year-old celebrity, was suspected of being murdered and dismembered in February 2023. Cai Tianfeng‘s ex-husband, Kuang Hongzhi, her ex-wife, Weng Kuangqiu, and her ex-husband‘s brother, Kuang Hongjie, were charged with murder and preventing legal burial of a corpse.
According to reports, the case continued to be tried at the Hong Kong High Court. In the opening statement of the prosecution, it was mentioned that Kuang Hongjie and Kuang Hongzhi conspired to heavily knock out Cai Tianfeng with a hammer on the day of the murder. The prosecution said that Kuang Hongzhi had previously placed the clothes he would change after the murder in the car.
The prosecution also pointed out that on the 16th before the murder, Kwong Qiu rented a village unit in Longwei Village in Tai Po, rented a car, and purchased large storage boxes, large blender, meat slicer, gloves, chain saw, rubber boots, soup cooker, rope, hammer, and luggage, etc., making sufficient preparations for the murder plan.
The prosecution said that Cai Tianfeng‘s mobile phone has not been recovered so far. Before her disappearance, she had called her husband Tan Fangjun, her mother-in-law and her mother.
