On September 1, Apple CEO Tim Cook bid farewell to his CEO position in a Weibo post on the evening of August 31. Cook said: “On my last day as Apple CEO, send full love to the Apple community. Tomorrow my title will change, but my love for the Apple community will never change.”

Cook‘s Last Day as Apple CEO: My Title Will Change Tomorrow

Cook also thanked the Apple community for the support and inspiration it had provided him over the years, and expressed anticipation for the “new chapter.” On September 1, local time, Apple would officially complete the CEO transition, with John Ternus, the current senior vice president of hardware engineering, replacing Cook as CEO, while Cook would become the executive chairman of the Apple board.

This means that Cook, who has been in charge of Apple since 2011, will end his 15-year term as CEO. However, Cook will not leave Apple completely. According to previously revealed information, he will continue to participate in company affairs after his transfer to the position of executive chairman, including responsibilities such as communicating with global policymakers.

Tenus is now 51 years old and has worked at Apple for about 25 years. He has long been in charge of the hardware business, first participating in the development of products such as Mac, iPad, AirPods and iPhone, and eventually in charge of the entire hardware engineering department at Apple. With Tenus‘s takeover, Apple will also enter a new management phase.

Apple‘s transition comes at a time when the company is facing challenges such as AI transformation. Previously, Bloomberg‘s Business Week reported that developing the AI business will become one of the important tasks after Tenoos takes over. At the same time, Cook‘s continued stay as CEO also means that Apple‘s power transition will take a relatively gradual approach.
