Reported that the court said that 25 did receive tsmc-related litigation documents. Taiwan’s competent economic department also issued a statement, saying it would cooperate with the prosecutors’ investigation. As for Luo Weiren’s qualification as an“Academician of the Institute of Industry and research,” Taiwan’s competent economic department said that at present it has not been withdrawn, and has asked the“Institute of Industry and research” to deliberate.

TSMC said Lo had been with the company since July 2004 as Deputy General Manager and was promoted to senior deputy general manager in February 2014. During his 2024 in March, the company transferred lo Weiren to the“Corporate strategy development department” as a senior deputy general manager. This department is a staff unit for the chairman and President to consult. It is no longer necessary to supervise or manage the affairs of the R & D Department, however, after moving to the corporate strategy development department, Lo still required R & D Department to hold meetings to provide information on the advanced process technologies being developed and planned for the future.

TSMC said law had signed confidentiality and non-compete agreements during his tenure, but filed the lawsuit shortly after he left to become an executive vice president at Intel. In the July 22 exit interview with Luo Weiren, the relevant personnel of the company specially provided relevant reminder letters and explained the obligations of non-competition. When asked about his future after leaving his job, Luo Weiren replied that he would work for an academic institution, didn’t say if he was going to work for Intel.

TSMC also stated that Lo had been involved in the company’s core operations for a long time during his tenure and had a high degree of contact and mastery of advanced process development and long-term planning. He was one of the most critical senior executives within the company.

According to Taiwanese media reports, the senior vice president of TSMC, lo wai-jen, was suspected of taking secrets related to advanced manufacturing processes below 2 nanometers and moving to Intel, raising concerns about a security crisis.
