The US Supreme Court Wednesday overturned a lower court’s ruling blocking the Donald Trump administration from swiftly deporting illegal immigrants to a third country. The US media saw this as a boon for Donald Trump’s immigration policy.
According to U. S. Media reports, the Conservative majority of the U. S. Supreme Court voted 6 to 3 to pass the decision. Three liberal justices voted against the decision, calling it a“Gross abuse” of the court’s discretion.
On April 18, Judge Brian Murphy of the Federal District Court in Boston ordered the Donald Trump administration to stop the rapid deportation of illegal immigrants to third countries without due process. Appointed by Biden, the former Democratic president, he demanded that the Donald Trump administration give at least 10 days before deporting a person to raise security concerns and 15 days to challenge an adverse ruling by immigration officials.
In late May, the Donald Trump administration put eight migrants from Burma, Laos, Vietnam, Cuba and Mexico on a plane bound for the African country of South Sudan. Although Donald Trump administration officials called the men criminals, Murphy said the practice violated his ruling. The Donald Trump administration then moved the group temporarily to a US military base in the African country of Djibouti.
The Donald Trump administration has pursued a hard-line policy of deporting illegal immigrants since taking office in January, sparking a series of legal proceedings and disputes, including advocating deporting illegal immigrants who can not be repatriated to their countries of origin to third countries for detention.
