The Hong Kong Airport Authority announced on 15th that Hong Kong International Airport recorded a double-digit increase in passenger volume in 2025, reaching 61 million people, an increase of 15% year-on-year. Aircraft takeoffs and landings increased 8.7% year-on-year to 394,730 aircraft, and cargo volume increased 2.7% year-on-year, reaching 5.07 million tons.

The Administration said that airport passenger transport continued to show strong performance in December 2025, receiving 5.8 million passengers per month, an increase of 13.5% year-on-year. Driven by the end-of-year tourism peak season, the daily passenger volume exceeded 200,000 on a total of eight days that month. At the same time, double-digit increases were recorded in both visiting and transit/transit passengers, with the increase in passenger volume between Mainland China, Southeast Asia and North America regions being particularly significant.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Airport Authority, Zhang Lijiahui, said that last year, the airport added 30 new destinations globally and added flights on major routes. A total of about 80 awards covering different categories of operations and services were awarded throughout the year, demonstrating the professionalism and outstanding performance of the entire airport community.

In terms of infrastructure, in September 2025, the tour bus waiting hall of Hong Kong International Airport’s passenger terminal building No. 2 was the first to be activated. This facility was introduced in the first phase of the expanded passenger terminal building No. 2, helping Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao’s Tai Wan area passengers to transfer to international flights via land cross-border routes. The “transit parking lot” service, launched in November of the same year, provided a seamless travel experience for Tai Wan area passengers driving to Hong Kong International Airport to transfer to international flights.
