The company said it had deliberately underestimated the tremors. The action dates back to 2018, when discussions were focused on moving forward with safety reviews and earthquake assessments to restart bingang’s units 3 and 4.
In response to central electric’s statement, Shimomura, mayor of the city where the plant is located, said that the city had asked the company to make the results of the investigation public after it was completed. At the same time, he pointed out the need to identify the causes of the incidents and, on that basis, to develop a fundamental response to prevent the recurrence of similar problems. Shizuoka Prefecture also responded. Prefecture Governor Yasuyoshi Suzuki that this is a serious damage to the county of central power and nuclear power industry trust in a major incident.
