According to a report on September 8 by Taiwan’s Zhongshi News Network, AI Yongqing, a journalist who worked for four years in a public English audio-visual platform in Taiwan and held a high-level position in the editorial department, on the 1st of this month, he published an article lambasting the inside story of the“General recall”, criticizing political interference in the newsroom, and the last straw that prompted him to resign and return to Britain with his family was that he and his family had become targets of extremists, the article caused heated discussion.

Reported that AI Yongqing recently published an article entitled“(my) Taiwan’s general recall”. The article mentioned that although the DPP is not more than half in Taiwan’s legislature, but William Lai, the DPP leader, has not tried to form an executive leadership with the “Opposition parties”, and his core allies are already talking about a “General recall”, a concept that was quickly fleshed out, in the name of the so-called“Citizens’ group”, it was suddenly disassociated from the DPP.
Ai yung-ching questioned that the illusion that the general recall had“Nothing to do with the DPP” had been accepted by most pro-green commentators in Taiwan. How many members of the so-called“Civic groups” are DPP voters? Even DPP members?
“The ‘General Recall’ was accompanied by another disturbing development: the deliberate targeting and attack on taiwan-mainland couples.”. Ai said the DPP authorities had launched a series of campaigns, from politicians to“Pro-china” internet celebrities and even ordinary residents, but had not introduced any“New laws”. In addition, the main participants and supporters of the recall were studying the Nazism and even using similar symbols.
Ai accused himself and his family of being targeted by some extremists as the final straw that led to his resignation, a charge that appeared to be based solely on his output and not 100 percent on the DPP’s narrative. The pressure to keep his journalism major and his colleagues safe while not allowing it to affect him and his family has finally become too much to bear, “I don’t think Taiwan is moving in the right direction.”.
The article recently fermented on the internet, so that AI Yongqing was surprised. He said in a statement Friday that he does not support any camp and wants people to reflect on the dangers of extremist party rhetoric.
Taiwan’s Zhongshi News Network reported that on September 7, the deputy secretary-general of the popular party, Xu Fu, mentioned in the political program“TVBS War Room” that AI Yongqing, a journalist, had worked in Taiwan for several years, recently, the family bought a one-way ticket back to the UK. He said that because the“General recall” had replaced public rationality with extreme mobilization, he wanted to have a bit of balance as a journalist after a long period of“Anti-zhongbao”, instead, it becomes a target. According to Hsu, Ai yung-ching thought the island was no longer rational, a phenomenon seen from the sidelines and somehow invisible to William Lai.
