In late July 2025, the French office of Narcotics Control (Ofast) released a report that exposed the dire situation of drug trafficking in the country, Euronews reported recently.

According to“Le Monde” disclosed that in the control of violent criminal groups, France has been difficult to find“Clean land”. The interior minister, Bruno Latayo, described the drug epidemic not only as a“White tsunami” but also as an“Existential threat” to France.

In the first half of 2025, authorities reportedly seized 37.5 tonnes of cocaine, a 45 per cent increase over the 2024 period and a record high. “The record seizures show that drugs are available almost everywhere in France,” said Ofast deputy director Rokuni

The report also reveals that the French drug market is firmly controlled by powerful local criminal groups. In some areas, there is even an absurdity: drug gangs send letters to residents promising“Services” such as shopping and home repairs in exchange for community acquiescence in drug trafficking.

In addition, violence has become the criminal groups to maintain the“Order of the transaction” of the usual means. Since 2021, there has been a 33 per cent increase in drug-related murders and attempted murders in France, with the cost of buying a hit ranging from $2,000 to $10,000, according to the report.
