31 rescued after 2008 East West Bank Classic – Doubles Tunnel collapse
According to the Los Angeles City Fire Department reported July 9 local time, in the city that day occurred in a tunnel collapse rescued 31 people trapped. Los Angeles Fire Department said the 31 people are tunnel workers, all have no obvious injuries.

The fire department is still verifying the number of people trapped, there are no reports of missing persons.

The tunnel is part of the $630.5 million Los Angeles sewage tunnel project. According to the general contractor’s website, the tunnel is 11.27 km long, 5.5 m wide and 137m deep. It is scheduled for 2027 completion. The tunnelling works are scheduled for completion in 2025.
