A symposium to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Second Sino-Japanese War victory and Taiwan’s recovery was held in Taipei on July 7, hosted by the magazine “Motherland” and co-organised by the cross-strait forum for peaceful development. Taiwanese scholars at the meeting said that the DPP authorities deliberately covered up history and advocated the“Taiwan independence” concept of history, to the Second World War such a major historical event deaf and dumb. Qi Jialin, president of the magazine “Motherland” and chairman of the Taiwan Historical Research Association, said the Second World War and its subsequent Primary Colors of armed resistance against Japan were a patriotic war waged by the Taiwanese people as part of the Chinese nation. Sun Ruoyi, a professor of Taiwanese National Chung Hsing University, sees the anti-japanese movement as a war against external humiliation.
