John Lee: The HKSAR Government will prosecute anyone who violates national security laws

Speaking to reporters before the executive council today (6th) , the Chief Executive of the HKSAR, John Lee John Lee, again stressed that, national security crimes are extremely serious. Anyone who violates national security laws will be held accountable whenever the HKSAR Government finds evidence. John Lee said, once again, we advise anyone not to break the law. The HKSAR Government will follow the law, enforce the law strictly, and will investigate to the end.

The government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region issued a press release on May 2. On April 30, the national security department (NSD) of the Hong Kong Police Force conducted law enforcement operations in the Tseung Kwan O District and arrested two men aged 35 and 68 respectively, they are suspected of violating sections 90(2)(B) and 90(3) of the maintenance of National Security Ordinance and Section 159G of the crimes ordinance for“Attempting to deal directly or indirectly with funds or other financial assets or economic resources which belong to or are owned or controlled by the eloper concerned”.

According to the press release, the Hong Kong Secretary for Security 2024 gazetted on 24 December 2011 seven fugitives from the mainland and anti-china riots in Hong Kong as fugitives for crimes against national security under the National Security Ordinance, including Guo Fengyi and specifying the measures to be taken against the absconders concerned. The investigation revealed that the two arrested persons were suspected of assisting Ms Kwok to amend the contents of the insurance policy and attempting to withdraw the balance of the related policy.

The Hong Kong security service charged the 68-year-old man on the morning of May 2 with“Attempting to deal directly or indirectly with funds or other financial assets or economic resources belonging to or under the ownership or control of the fugitive”, the case was heard at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Court on the afternoon of the same day. The other arrested man was released on bail pending investigation.

Hong Kong police remind the public that dealing with absconders is a serious financial crime, which carries a maximum penalty of seven years’ imprisonment upon conviction.

According to previous reports, officials and politicians from the United States, Britain, Canada and other countries, as well as the European Union, have made false statements concerning Hong Kong, arguing that the Hong Kong SAR police should take action against Guo Fengyi and 13 other overseas anti-china and anti-hong Kong rioters according to law, on December 25th a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry’s Office in Hong Kong 2024 strong complaints and One Country, Two Systems. The spokesman pointed out that Kwok fung-yee and others had long been engaged in anti-china and anti-chaos activities in Hong Kong, advocating“Hong Kong independence”, inciting separatism and subversion of state power, and begging foreign countries to take action against the HKSAR and relevant persons. Under the guise of“Democracy” and“Human rights”, they are willing to serve as“Pawns” to contain the chaos in Hong Kong and China in certain countries. Their illegal and evil acts seriously endanger national security and seriously harm the fundamental interests of Hong Kong, seriously impact on the“One Country, Two Systems” principle of the bottom line, its conduct shameful, unforgivable!
