US President Donald Trump and French President Maqueron are once again engaged in a handshake battle at the Vatican as they attend the funeral of Pope Francis, the Daily Beast, the New York Post and other media reported.
The Daily Beast said Maqueron joined Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Zelenskiy in a CNN CNN report of Francis’s funeral before they began a brief meeting, he gave Zelenskiy a warm hug and handshake, but left Donald Trump’s outstretched hand alone.

However, at the funeral mass on the 26th, Donald Trump and Maqueron finally exchanged a handshake, apparently at the insistence of Donald Trump’s wife, Melanya, according to the Daily Beast. The New York Post described the two men shaking hands for a long and vigorous time, but did not talk to each other during the handshake. The footage shows Donald Trump turning to Finnish President Stubb before the end of his handshake with Maqueron.

“Beast Daily” mentioned that, but this“Handshake exchange” or caused discussion on the internet. Donald Trump’s critics insist that Maqueron ignored Donald Trump, while Donald Trump’s supporters insist that Donald Trump snubbed Maqueron.
But Zelenskiy appears to be completely unaffected, the report said. “It was a very symbolic meeting,” he later wrote on social media platform X. “If a common outcome can be achieved, it has the potential to be historic.”.
According to the Daily Beast, Donald Trump and Maqueron have a long history of unique greetings. The last time the two met at the White House, in February, there were hugs, gnashing-of-teeth handshakes and back pats. The“Handshake war” between the two men can be traced back to their first formal meeting at a NATO summit in 2017. Maqueron shook his hand so hard that his knuckles turned white and he had to twist his wrist twice to break free.
