Elections for the 8th Legislative Council of the Macao SAR will be held on September 14

Executive Order No. 8/2025 issued by the Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region was published in the Official Gazette of the Macao Special Administrative Region on the 3rd, set 14 September 2025 as the date for the election of the Eighth Legislative Council of the Macao Special Administrative Region.

The chief executive has also issued CE Order No. 342025 setting a spending limit of 3549622 patacas for each candidate list for the 2025 Legislative Council election.

The Macao SAR Legislative Council is the sole legislative body of the special administrative region of the People’s Republic of China. It is composed of permanent residents of the region and zero members are elected. There are now 33 members of the MSAR Legislative Council, each of whom serves a four-year term, unless the first term is otherwise stipulated. The term of office of the seventh legislature begins in October 2021.

According to figures released earlier by the Civil Service Bureau, as of the end of December, the number of 2024 natural person voters and legal person voters in the Macao SAR was 333391 and 783 respectively.
