Taiwan’s“Central news agency” reported that the“Golden Cobra” military exercises led by the United States and Thailand, held in Thailand every year in February to March. The“Golden Cobra Exercise” Facebook page on the 25th revealed that, more than 200 officers and soldiers from the United States, Thailand, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia and“Taiwan” gathered at the Camp Suronalee Parade Ground in Thailand, for the 2025“Golden Cobra” joint exercise kicked off. However, the Facebook page was subsequently deleted“Taiwan”.
In an email response to Taiwan’s central news agency, the press officer of the“Golden Cobra” joint information office said that the“Golden Cobra” joint information office learned that, a recent post about Taiwan’s participation in the“Golden Cobra” in 2025 contained a clerical error. The incorrect information in the post was due to an incorrect interpretation in the recording process and was accidentally published on a public platform. After the error was found, the content of the post was immediately corrected, “Taiwan” is removed from the content of the post.
The office also said Taiwan was not a participant in the 2025 Golden Cobra exercise and that the Pentagon had never formally organized Taiwan to be a participant in the exercise.
United Taiwan News Network previously reported that Taiwan has never participated in the past, “Golden Cobra” military exercises.
Zhang Jing, a senior researcher at the Chinese Strategic Society in Taiwan, said the addition and deletion of“Taiwan” could be either an“Unintentional slip of the pen” or a“Deliberate provocation”. Zhang Jing said that unless Thailand intends to sacrifice diplomatic relations with the mainland and cut off relevant procurement channels, it does not care about the revenue brought by Chinese tourists, otherwise, it wouldn’t have bothered to invite the Taiwanese military to participate in the annual series of Cobra exercises, and since the PLA is often invited to participate in specific exercises, Thailand wouldn’t have made such fundamental mistakes. He also analyzed that the People’s Liberation Army has been invited to participate in the annual series of exercises of“Golden Cobra” since 2014, at this point, the possibility of Taiwan’s military being invited“Is almost completely non-existent.”.
Still have the Netizen inside island to say sarcastically: “Put you up yesterday, take you down today. . . this is called chess piece or abandon a piece.”
