US President Donald Trump Thursday imposed a 25% tariff on all imports of steel and aluminum, US media reported. In addition, the latest measures also eliminate duty-free steel and aluminum quotas and exemptions for some trading partners. According to the Guardian, Canada’s Minister of Innovation, Science and industry, Pengfei Shang, reacted swiftly to Donald Trump’s move later in the day, calling it“Completely unreasonable”.

“While examining the impact [ of the US measures ] , we are consulting with our international partners,” Shang said in a post on social media platform X, “Our response will be clear and targeted.”
On February 10, President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing a 25 percent tariff on all imports of steel and aluminum. Donald Trump also said that day that there were“No exceptions or exemptions” from the requirements. US tariffs of 25 per cent on steel and aluminium will take effect on March 4, according to White House officials.
