The 2025 World University Times Higher Education, published by THE University of Hong Kong (THE) , has achieved remarkable results, with 38 disciplines from five universities ranked among THE world’s top 100 universities, of these, 19 are among the world’s top 50.
The City University of Hong Kong (Cityu) Times Higher Education the ranking of World Universities in 2025 has been updated since it was published last October, the Oriental daily reported Monday, from the 80th announced to rise to 78th, set a new record. The University of Hong Kong is ranked sixth in the world in education and continues to be the highest-ranked discipline in the university. In terms of local rankings, HKU ranked first in eight disciplines, including education, medicine and health, social sciences, law, Science, life sciences, psychology and the humanities. HKU said the above indicators reflected the perseverance and innovation of its teachers and students in the pursuit of knowledge.
The Chinese University of Hong Kong has 11 disciplines in the top 100. Among them, CUHK medical school ranked 24th in the world, up 13 places from last year, a record high, is for the first time among the world’s top 25. Zhao weiren, Dean of CUHK Medical School, said that CUHK medical school can become one of the world’s 25 youngest medical schools without the efforts of university management, medical school teachers and students, and will continue to lead medical innovation in the future, the ultimate goal is to translate the results of academic research into clinical applications, thereby enabling Hong Kong’s medical innovations to benefit patients around the world.
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University ranks 37th in business and economics and 41st in engineering among the world’s top 100 disciplines. It is worth mentioning that the university science disciplines for the first time into the top 100, ranked No. 97. Polyu said it would continue to strengthen ties and co-operation with partners around the world to nurture more professionals and community leaders to contribute to Hong Kong, the country and the world.
Hong Kong media also mentioned that in this world university discipline ranking, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology’s business and economics, computer science and engineering disciplines continue to rank among the top 50 in the world, and ranked first in Hong Kong for the second time.
