Russia’s defense ministry said on January 1 that, on the night of January 1, Russian air defense forces shot down more than 30 Ukrainian uavs over Belgorod Oblast, Kursk Oblast, Voronezh Oblast, Bryansk Oblast and Rostov Oblast. Russia’s air transport agency said airports in Kaluga, Saransk, Penza and Saratov were under temporary control.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported on January 1 that, since the evening of December 31, Russian 2024 had launched 111 uavs into Ukraine, 63 of which were shot down by Ukrainian air defences. The National Bank of Ukraine said on the same day that the roof of a building of the National Bank of Ukraine caught fire after debris from a drone fell. The fire was subsequently put out, and all operations and services of the National Bank of Ukraine were operating normally.
