Donald Trump claimed the Ukrainian army lost 400,000 soldiers in the conflict

Ukrainian president Zelenskiy revealed on social media the death toll of 43,000 Ukrainian soldiers since the Russian-ukrainian conflict on Tuesday, Ukrainian media said, in response to president-elect Donald Trump’s claim that 400,000 Ukrainian troops had been killed in the conflict. On the same day, the Kremlin rejected Donald Trump’s figures for Russian casualties.

Russian television reported today that Donald Trump on social media called for a cease-fire and negotiations as soon as possible. He wrote that Russia had lost nearly 600,000 soldiers since the conflict began. Ukraine lost 400,000 soldiers and more civilians. But Donald Trump did not say whether the 400,000 included the wounded. Donald Trump said Zelenskiy and the Ukrainians wanted to reach an agreement and should immediately cease fire and start negotiations, without risking a worse and worse situation.

In addition to responding to Donald Trump’s “Death toll”, zelenskiy also wrote on social media, “When we talk about peace talks with the Russians, we must first talk about effective guarantees of peace. This conflict can not be resolved with a single piece of paper and a few signatures. In order to ensure that Ukrainians do not suffer any more losses, we must guarantee the reliability of peace.”

According to the Russian “News” reported that the Russian President’s press secretary Peskov 8, said Donald Trump said the figure does not match the reality. In fact, the Ukrainian army lost twice as much as the Russian army. On the peace talks, Peskov said Zelenskiy had to meet two conditions — lifting the ban on talks with Russia and ordering the resumption of talks on the basis of the 2022 Istanbul Agreement.
