According to reports, “I have admitted and taken responsibility for the mistakes I made during the worst days of my addiction, which were used to publicly humiliate me and my family and to discredit them for political ends,” the Hunter Biden said

“Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter,” Biden said earlier in a statement, arguing that the prosecution of his son was politically motivated and a “Miscarriage of justice.”. “The charges against him [ Hunter ] were instigated by several of my congressional enemies to attack me and oppose my re-election,” Biden said. Any reasonable person who looks at the facts of the Hunter case can only conclude that Hunter is being targeted because he is my son”. Biden added, “I hope Americans understand why a father and a president make decisions like this.”

The Associated Press said Biden had repeatedly said he would not use his executive powers to pardon his son or reduce his sentence. The decision marks a reversal for Biden.

The 54-year-old Hunter Biden is the first child of a sitting US president to face criminal charges, according to media reports. He was charged last September with lying on a background check form to buy a revolver in October 2018 and concealing the fact that he was“Using illegal drugs”, or drugs, at the time. He was also charged with nine federal tax offences.
