On November 27, a Canadian Boeing 737 airliner was forced to change course and crash-land at Montreal’s Mirabel Airport after a faulty landing gear. No one was injured.

According to the Transportation Safety Board (TSB) , the plane landed with“One main landing gear retracted”.

Photos of the plane posted on social media showed the plane tilting to the left on the runway and the engine touching the ground.

The flight, NRL 662, left Quebec City at 10:50 a.m. and flew to the Wabash Airport in Newfoundland and Labrador, which is operated by a charter airline. The company said in a statement that all 87 passengers and crew were safe and that emergency workers had the situation under control. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident, the statement added.

Mirabel Airport spokesman said the incident occurred around 11:30 am. The runway is now closed and airport operations suspended.

There have been a number of Boeing 737 landing gear failures in recent months, with 2024 in October Boeing 737 landing gear failures in Senegal and Turkey in two days, resulting in several injuries.
