The satellite was carried into space aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 launch vehicle, according to video broadcast by SpaceX. The Falcon 9 first stage booster successfully separated and returned to the ground seven minutes after launch, while the second stage flew in its intended orbit and put the satellite into orbit about 35 minutes after launch.
The Infinity 6A satellite is scheduled to complete in-orbit tests by the end of the year, and to officially start fixed and broadcast satellite services in the first quarter of next year. KT SAT said it was the only South Korean satellite operator with a geostationary orbit communications satellite, which provides broadcasting satellite services around the world through five satellites.
