On October 31, Louisiana sued for classifying abortion mifepristone and misoprostol as controlled substances. The lawsuit, filed in the state court in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, involves medical staff and patients, arguing that the state’s classification prevented emergency doctors in the delivery room from receiving misoprostol immediately, this in turn endangers patients, and the laws violate women’s rights under state constitutions.

Jeff Landry, the List of Governors of Louisiana, signed the law in May to classify mifepristone and misoprostol as controlled substances, saying they were likely to be abused or dependent, tighter regulation is needed.
