On October 28th, local time, the Mexican government’s Ministry of Economy sent a document to the United States Department of Commerce saying: Concerns have been raised about a US government proposal to ban chinese-developed hardware and software from internet-connected and self-driving cars on US roads.
The ministry said the proposal could have a significant impact on Mexico’s auto industry. From an economic point of view, this would increase potential trade barriers with potential risks of supply chain disruption, higher production costs and lower employment.
In September, the United States Department of Commerce proposed banning chinese-developed software and hardware from internet-connected and self-driving cars on American roads. International public opinion is generally questioning and criticizing this.
