Taiwan’s universities ranked 172nd, the highest in the island, but dropped 20 places from the previous year, Taiwan’s Yonhap news website said Monday. In response, the university said that although there had been progress in many substantive indicators, it was still influenced by subjective prestige indicators, teacher-student ratio, and degree of internationalisation, and that the results of relevant scientific research might not necessarily be reflected in the rankings.
