On October 8, local time, the Federal Aviation Administration Authority (FAA) said it had issued a safety alert to airlines warning that the rudder movements of some Boeing 737 aircraft could be restricted or stuck.
The move comes after the US National Transportation Safety Board said on September 30 that foreign operators of more than 40 Boeing 737 aircraft may be using aircraft with rudder control system components that pose a potential safety risk.
The Federal Aviation Administration said the alert issued yesterday provided information about an automatic check of the existing rudder system that would identify when the rudder was restricted or stuck before landing.
