“She passed away peacefully in hospital in the early hours of Friday morning, September 27,” Maggie Smith sons Toby Stephens and Chris Larkin said in a statement. She was a very private person, with friends and family around her on her deathbed. She is survived by two sons and five lovely grandchildren who are grieving the loss of their extraordinary mother and grandmother. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the excellent staff of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their care and selfless care during her last days. Born in Essex on December 28,1934, the Maggie Smith loved acting as a child and trained at the Oxford School of Drama.
