“My most important message tonight is that British citizens in Lebanon should leave immediately,” the Guardian reported Stamer as saying on his plane to the United Nations General Assembly in New York. “It is important that we be clear that it is time to leave. Broadly speaking, I am concerned about the situation and I think we need to be clear that what we need is a de-escalation and what we need is a ceasefire,” he said.
