North Korea has been dropping garbage balloons on South Korea since late May. South Korean officials clean up a garbage balloon launched by North Korea on July 24.
In addition to North Korea’s launch of ballistic missiles into eastern waters, South Korea also found what appeared to be another launch of more than 20 garbage balloons.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said Thursday that authorities found more than 20 suspected”Garbage balloons” from North Korea on Wednesday night, Yonhap news agency reported.
The balloons, most of which floated north of the Military Demarcation Line, are now free of floating objects.
North Korea on August 10 to South Korea after the air-dropped garbage balloons, almost a month, September 4 to 8 and five consecutive days of air-dropped balloons. The South Korean military said more than 1,250 garbage balloons were identified between September 4 and 8, with more than 430 falling into the country. Garbage balloons also cause fires.
North Korea also fired several ballistic missiles into eastern waters Thursday. It was the second time North Korea has fired a ballistic missile since July 1, more than two months ago.
