A video of Biden wearing a “Donald Trump 2024” hat went viral on the internet on Wednesday, sparking a frenzy among Trump supporters. The White House’s immediate response was that it was true, but that there was a very positive story behind it.
Biden was shown holding a red hat that he briefly put on his head and then took off.
White House spokesman Andrew Evan Bates was quick to respond, saying that Biden spoke at the Sept. 11 Memorial of bipartisan unity after the disaster and that the United States should return to that time. As a gesture, he gave a hat to a Donald Trump supporter in the room, who later said Biden should wear his trump hat too. So Biden briefly put it on.
