Lats said in an Instagram post Thursday that she lost her chance to win an Olympic gold medal because of a “Wrong decision” by three judges. “After sitting down and reading so many of your comments and the clear photographic evidence that I hit the target, I feel that not only myself, but the entire shooting community should pay attention and address this issue,” Lats said, every athlete should play on a fair field.
“I do think there is some responsibility [ for the parties ] to acknowledge the error and apologise, and there is a need for a plan to prevent something like this in the future,” Lats said.
The British delegation to the Paris Games won 65 medals, including 14 gold, 22 silver and 29 bronze, the BBC and other media reported. Chilean Crovetto Chatid won the women’s skeet shooting final at the Paris Olympics on August 4, while Lats and Smith of the United States took second and third places respectively.
