A 1.5-litre (1.5-litre) liquid containing radioactive material was leaked from a uranium enrichment plant in the village of Liuso, Aomori Prefecture, Japan, the company said Monday. The company said the radioactive liquid had not escaped the containment of the facility and had been recovered. The spill did not affect the surrounding environment, nor did it cause damage to human health.
The radioactive liquid allegedly leaked from a pipe valve. Local time 16 AM, staff confirmed that a leak occurred, and re-tighten the valve. The leak has now stopped.
The Japanese company is investigating the cause of the leak.
