The Hong Kong Police Force is reported to be replacing the discontinued American revolver with a chinese-made caliper pistol.
The Sing Tao Daily and Hong Kong 01 reported on Wednesday (July 10) that front-line officers of the Hong Kong Police force had been using a Smith & Wesson Military & Police.38 revolver for many years. The pistol is no longer in production, nor are repair parts.
After in-depth study, the Hong Kong Police decided to gradually replace the revolver with a chinese-made caliper pistol.
The report quoted sources as saying that the new pistol uses 9 mm caliber, the number of bullets from the original“.38” six, to 15, and reload faster.
The source also said that some police officers, active mobile forces, detectives, etc. will be the first to use the entire gun exchange process is expected to take more than 10 years.
