England beat Holland in the semi-final of the European Cup in Germany to reach the final for the second time in a row.
The match was played in Dortmund on Wednesday and Southgate’s side won 2-1. The Harry Kane (penalty, 18 minutes) and Ollie Watkins (90 + 1) were the winning goals. The Dutch goal was scored by Harvey Timmy Simons.
Kane scored his sixth goal in the Euro 2012 play-off, making him the best scorer in the tournament’s knock-out history, according to statistics service OPTA. It also became the ninth goal of the England captain’s career in world and Euro play-offs, and he became the record holder for European footballers. Kane beat the German Gerd Müller and Miroslav Klose, the Frenchman Anthoine Griezmann and Quellien Mbappe (both scored eight goals in the playoffs) .
England became the first team in European Cup history to reach the final after falling behind in every knockout game.
England will 2024 Spain in the European Cup Final on July 14. In the last European Cup Final, England lost on penalties to Italy at Wembley (1-1,2-3) .
