On September 30, a copilot attacked the captain of a Dubai Airlines flight to Israel. According to Israeli news on September 5, the related Omanian copilot Hamami admitted during a multilateral interrogation in the UAE that his choice to fly the flight to Israel and attempt to crash the passenger plane was a long-considered act of revenge, a “revenge for Gaza.” However, the related reports have not yet been confirmed by Israeli and UAE officials.
According to information released on October 5, just hours after co-pilot Hammami stabbed the captain in the cockpit of Dubai Airlines on September 30, two videos were posted on his social media, some of which had to do with extremism.
According to sources, co-pilot Hammami had extremist views and was banned from flying in Oman, but was later hired by Dubai Airlines.
After the attack in the cabin of the passenger plane, Hammami posted two videos on social media platforms “LinkedIn” and “Photo Wall”.
The first video is a compilation of multiple videos showing multiple Israeli Airlines aircraft. By positioning, one of the footage was confirmed to have been shot in Dubai. This video also includes footage taken from the cockpit during Hamami‘s 2023 Oman Airlines flight from Dubai to Moscow. The labeled date and flight number match the time Hamami served at Oman Airlines.
The video ended with a tribute to two people—Zawahiri, bin Laden‘s successor as a former al-Qaeda leader, and Balawi, the suicide bomber who launched an attack on a Central Intelligence Agency facility in Afghanistan in 2009.
His second video, generated by artificial intelligence, shows the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Medina, and Mecca from an aerial perspective.
These two videos were released nearly nine hours after the safety incident on Dubai Airlines‘ passenger plane-at that time, Hamami had already been detained. At present, it is unclear whether these two videos were pre-set timed releases or were uploaded by someone else on his behalf.
Hamami‘s social media account has now been logged off.
