Federal regulators said two crew members on an Amazon cargo plane that crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday survived the accident.
The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) gave the latest information at a press conference on Sunday after officials said the cargo plane ran off the runway and caught fire on landing. The authorities said on Sunday that five people were killed and five injured in the accident.
Jennifer Homandy, chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board, said the plane collided with two vehicles carrying at least eight passengers.
Homandy said a van carrying seven victims was hit and “ripped” at the airport. She said the white 2012 Ford Econoline van belonged to Ocean Service Corporation, a contract cleaning company that provides services to airlines.

A Boeing 767 cargo plane crashed off the end of runway 30 while landing at Miami International Airport on Sunday, and NTSB investigators examined the wreckage site on Monday.
The NTSB said the plane then crashed near the airport, hitting a civilian vehicle driving on Northwest 67th Avenue, a Toyota Corolla Cross LE.
Homandy said investigators investigating the scene of the accident observed that the vehicle appeared to be equipped with safety airbags.
“You can see parts of the vehicle, including the passenger car and the plane itself,” Homandy said.
Homandy said the plane then “continued into the meadow and hit another fence line that separated the area where Tesla robot taxis were stationed.”

On Sunday, September 6, 2026, an Amazon Prime Air Boeing 767 ran off the runway near Miami International Airport and crashed into a car.
The jet was reported to have flown a total of 1,300 feet off the road.
Homandy said the wreckage of the plane was “wide-ranging” and pointed out that the crash had damaged airport navigation equipment and equipment, and that fences throughout the area had been torn.

On September 6, 2026, officials investigated a Prime Air cargo plane after it ran off the runway at Miami International Airport, Florida.
Officials said the Boeing 767 completed two more flights before crashing in Miami, home of its operator 21 Air LLC.
Homandy said the plane flew from Cincinnati to Miami, then from Miami to San Juan, Puerto Rico, and finally back to Miami.
NTSB investigators have found the flight recorder and the cockpit voice recorder and plan to examine them.

Homandy called the crash site “destroying,” with debris scattered throughout the area.
“I would use one word to describe it: devastating, complete destruction,” she said.
“I mean, you can see tire tracks on the paved road that extend all the way to the grass. There are pieces everywhere.”
