Thousands of people took to the streets in protest and many took to social media to call for the prosecution of the law enforcement officers who fired the shots. US President Donald Trump said the officers had\u201cClearly shot in self-defence\u201d. The mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey, dismissed the claims, telling ICE officers at a press conference to\u201cGet the hell out of here\u201d. It is worth noting that Goode was shot dead just over 1,500 metres from where George Freud was\u201cKnelt\u201d by police in 2020.<\/p>\n

According to CNN, Minnesota Senator Renee Goode has been confirmed as a U. S. citizen. According to the Washington Post, Goodall was married twice. Her second husband, a veteran with post-traumatic stress disorder, died about three years ago, the couple had a 6-year-old son.<\/p>\n
Surveillance video shows Goode’s car standing still on the road and skidding for about three minutes before confronting ICE agents. A few minutes later, ICE law enforcement officers appear in the video. Witnesses at the scene Heller said several ICE law enforcement officers shouted at Goode, one of them trying to open the door, another standing nearby. She backed the car slightly, turned the steering wheel to leave, and an ICE agent walked up to her car, yelled ‘stop’ and shot her in the face at close range through the windshield. A number of Minnesota politicians expressed anger at Goode’s death and blamed it on the Trump administration’s immigration policies. Tim Waltz, the Democratic Governor of Minnesota, said it was\u201cUnprecedented\u201d for the federal government to move so quickly to label the shooting. Woltz said the state would\u201cPursue accountability and justice at all costs\u201d. He also warned that the state was ready to deploy its National Guard of the United States. At one point, Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey angrily condemned Ice’s actions, saying, \u201cGet out of Minneapolis. You’re not welcome here.\u201d<\/p>\n
CNN analysis, although state governments and large numbers of people want to prosecute law enforcement officers shot, but the U. S. Department of Justice is unlikely to use excessive force against immigration law enforcement officers to prosecute. Federal law enforcement officials enjoy immunity from prosecution by state or local officials. Federal law enforcement agencies have traditionally spent weeks or even months investigating whether their use of force was appropriate.<\/p>\n
A law enforcement source told CNN that ICE law enforcement officers operating in Minneapolis don’t need to wear law enforcement recorders. Since many law enforcement officials do not normally wear law enforcement recorders, it is often difficult to verify conflicting claims following incidents of use of force.<\/p>\n
