The radical change, led by Royal Mail Chief Executive Martin Seidenberg, is aimed at adapting the postal service, which has been around for more than 500 years, to the digital age, the report said. Royal Mail plans to develop an app that will generate a scannable digital code or barcode by simply typing in the recipient’s address and then printing it and pasting it onto an envelope or package.
