\nMore than 10 political parties and groups, including the preparatory meeting of the Taiwan Social Solidarity Forum, the cross-strait Forum for Peace and development, the Workers’ Party, and the United Alliance Party, gathered in Taipei in the rain on the 7th to commemorate the 88th anniversary of the outbreak of the National War of resistance against Japanese aggression, it calls for\u201cRespecting the historical facts of the anti-japanese war and opposing the view of fawning on Japan\u201d, and demands the DPP authorities to face up to the historical facts of the cross-strait joint anti-japanese War and the Taiwan People’s anti-japanese war.<\/p>\n

The event was held outside the headquarters of the Central Committee of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to express the demands of commemorating the victory of the anti-japanese war and opposing the split of\u201cTaiwan independence\u201d. The organizers said that in recent years, the Democratic Progressive Party authorities have advocated the historical view of\u201cTaiwan independence,\u201d pursued the policy of\u201cDe-sinicization,\u201d deliberately distorted history, seriously damaged the political foundation of cross-strait relations, and undermined national unity, put Taiwan on the brink of war step by step. To commemorate the 88 th anniversary of the outbreak of the War of resistance against Japan, we should not only cherish the memory of the martyrs and carry forward the national spirit, but also learn from history and correctly understand the historical context and legal basis of Taiwan’s belonging to China.<\/p>\n

At the event, Chih chia-lin, honorary chairman of the United League Party, pointed out that after the\u201cMarco Polo Bridge Incident War\u201d, the Japanese colonial authorities in Taiwan investigated and found that there were more than 70 anti-japanese incidents in Taiwan within one month, many young Taiwanese went to the mainland to take part in the War of resistance against Japan. This shows that Taiwan from intellectuals to ordinary people all recognize China as the motherland, and firmly believe that the motherland will win. Today we are commemorating the 88th anniversary of the outbreak of the War of resistance against Japanese aggression. This is to carry forward the national spirit, oppose the split of\u201cTaiwan independence\u201d and strive for national reunification.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are here today at the DPP central party headquarters to remind the DPP authorities that our compatriots in Taiwan have a long tradition of patriotism. We hope that the authorities will stop all acts of ‘Taiwan independence’ , return to the right track of history, and safeguard the overall situation of peaceful development across the strait,\u201d said Ji Xin, publisher of the Observer Magazine.<\/p>\n

Luo Meiwen, honorary chairman of the Workers’ Party and a member of the Hsinchu County Parliament, said that after the victory of the Second Sino-Japanese War and the recovery of Hakka people, many local villagers in Hsinchu immediately resumed the worship of ancestral halls and ancestral tablets, on behalf of these folks even in the Japanese occupation period also heart to the motherland, after the recovery of Taiwan can finally do a decent Chinese.<\/p>\n

Hsu Yu-chia, vice-president of the Taiwan Mutual Aid Association for political victims, believes that the purpose of holding the commemoration today is to tell the DPP authorities that the history of the Chinese nation’s resistance to Japan is a just history of uniting against foreign invasion and oppression, william Lai’s so-called\u201cTen principles of unity\u201d contain separatist plots for\u201cTaiwan independence\u201d and will not bring about unity in Taiwanese society, but only division.<\/p>\n

Taiwan youth representatives, such as historian Zhou Yong, secretary-general of the Xiachao Federation Lin Shengzhou, and chief editor of the cross-strait Ben newspaper network Chen Chongzhen, respectively, from the perspectives of the historical facts of the Taiwanese people’s anti-japanese struggle, the story of the family’s anti-japanese struggle, and the opposition to the split of\u201cTaiwan independence\u201d, this paper expounds the practical significance of commemorating the 88th anniversary of the outbreak of the War of resistance against Japan.<\/p>\n
