A beef burger sold by US fast food chain mcdonald’s has been found to be contaminated with E. coli, causing dozens of people to become ill after eating it, one of the victims has died. The Centers for Disease Control and prevention (CDC-RRB- said the accident covered all 10 states, the number of victims may rise further. Mcdonald’s side of the emergency off the shelves of the problem products, is now cooperating with the health department to investigate.

According to reports, the incident also led to four online“Conspiracy theories” due to the sensitive time of the US election, many netizens thought it was too obvious — after all, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump had volunteered at mcdonald’s the other day.

(CNN) — the E. coli CNN broke out between Sept. 27 and Oct. 11, with 49 known cases, mostly in Midwestern United States areas, colorado had the largest number of cases, with 27 confirmed, Nebraska had 9, and Kansas, Missouri, Oregon, and Utah all had cases. Of the confirmed cases, one elderly person has died and 10 others require further treatment.

E. coli is known to cause diarrhea, blood in the stool, vomiting, stomach cramps and high fever in patients. The bacteria have a incubation period of 3 to 4 days, the media speculated that the number of patients was likely to increase further and spread to other states. Although most patients can recover within 5 to 7 days of symptom onset, severe complications can not be ruled out. For example, one minor in the group developed symptoms of hemolytic uremic syndrome, an acute kidney disease caused by an E. coli infection.

Most of the patients had eaten a mcdonald’s Quarter Pounder, according to a health department investigation. The burger is one of mcdonald’s’s flagship products in the United States, with an average daily sales of about 110,000. CDC has issued a food safety warning in 22, to remind those who have symptoms of the above as soon as possible to seek medical attention.

According to a statement posted on the CDC website, the source of the infection may be the onion strips and patties used in the four-ounce beef burger, cDC officials are currently working to determine the source of the infection.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has also launched an investigation to determine whether, in addition to traceability, the affected ingredients were used in other catering establishments.

Mcdonald’s said in a statement Tuesday that the company has always made“Providing safe food on a daily basis” a top priority and that the chain will replace safe ingredients in the coming weeks, the four-ounce beef burger has been removed from shelves in many states across the United States. According to CNN and other media, the hamburger used onions from“The same supplier,” and the sandwich of Beef Patty is also limited to this one hamburger use.

As a result, other mcdonald’s beef burgers — including cheeseburgers, double cheeseburgers and Big Macs — are still on sale. Even so, the scandal has hit the company’s market value hard: CNBC reported that mcdonald’s shares fell 7 per cent before the market opened on Wednesday.

This is not the first time mcdonald’s has been involved in a food safety scandal. In 2008, mcdonald’s was found to have excessive levels of salmonella in its tomato ingredients, but the company was not alone in the incident, burger King, Walmart and other well-known chains have also pulled affected foods from their shelves. In 2018, about 400 consumers in 15 states across the United States were sickened by parasites found in mcdonald’s vegetable salads, forcing the company to pull food from 3,000 stores. In 2022, six children in Alabama became infected with E. coli after eating chicken mcnuggets, and four of them were hospitalized.

As the scandal comes at a politically sensitive time, many “Open-minded” internet users in Lenovo to the Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, because he went to a mcdonald’s restaurant in Pennsylvania last weekend to“Canvass”, while also preparing meals for customers.

“I Told You Donald Trump didn’t wash his hands,” one commenter on social media site X joked in connection with the mcdonald’s food incident, while others were anxious about their recent consumption of mcdonald’s.

The incident also angered Donald Trump supporters, who said it was a clear attempt to discredit the campaign in Pennsylvania, because the sequence of events is a“Ridiculous coincidence”. There is also suspicion that the incident was “Retaliation against mcdonald’s” by Donald Trump’s rivals, who after all provided the stage for Trump to put on a show.

Emergency off the shelves!
